How do I access the new Support at Home program?
You need an assessment through the Single Assessment System via Services Australia. We help you prepare for this and can guide you through the process from start to finish. Contact us to get started.
I'm already receiving a Home Care Package. Do I need to switch?
Existing HCP recipients were automatically transitioned to Support at Home from 1 November 2025 under the "no worse off" principle, so your contribution arrangements are protected. Optcare can help you understand your new budget.
Is clinical care really free now?
Yes. Under the new Aged Care Act 2024, all clinical care, including nursing, wound care, medication management and allied health assessments, is fully government-funded regardless of your income or assets.
How much will I actually pay for care?
It depends on your pension status and which services you receive. Full pensioners pay as little as 5% for independence supports and 17.5% for everyday living. A lifetime cap of $135,319 applies to non-clinical contributions. We explain all of this in your free consultation.
Can I choose my own carer?
Absolutely. We match you to carers based on personality, cultural background, language and care needs, and if the match isn't right, we change it. Your comfort and connection with your carer is our priority.
Do you provide care for people with dementia?
Yes. We have specialist support workers trained in dementia and memory care, providing structured, compassionate support that helps clients maintain routine, dignity and a sense of safety at home.
